Spotlight on the Retail Industry: How the increase in demand for retail jobs continues with the UK transitioning to a new normal.

The number of retail jobs in the UK dropped by 67,000 in the last three months of 2020 during the second wave of the pandemic. That brought the country’s total number of retail jobs to 3.09 million at the end of last year, according to the latest figures.

As of the 12th of April 2021, the government announced the reopening of retail stores across the country. This means that companies have started to hire off floor and on floor staff again. After 6 months of the WHP JETS programme beginning, we are continuing to help participants find work. We have recently seen an increase in the demand for retail jobs, many of which include:

  • Sales Assistant
  • Store Supervisor
  • Shop-floor Assistant

Alongside high street retail stores, we have seen supermarkets experiencing a rapid increase in demand now more than ever after the third lockdown in the UK. As may be expected, hiring for shop floor staff in supermarkets has also increased.

By joining our WHP JETS programme, we can help you to choose the best candidates from our talent pool and make sure they have the expertise and qualities you are looking for. All our candidates have access to work-related skills training courses in your industry and have access to health and wellbeing support.

We may also assist with interview logistics, such as venue, administration, whilst keeping in-line with the government Covid-19 restrictions. This includes an option of remote hiring, or if a face-to-face interview is required then there is a Covid-19 compliant process for that as well.

We can also work with you to create a preparation and induction process that will save you time and money. This procedure will be established in close collaboration with you to ensure that it meets your needs.
